Objective and History

Our Sustainability Strategy is represented through a tree-shaped plan based on our Ethics and Values, which are the elements that form the roots of the scheme. It lives and grows through three guiding axes, in which Our People and Our Planet are directly related to the activities of our operations, while Our Community includes the actions that we carry out alongside institutions as part of our social environment. Each axis simulates the branches of the tree, and the leaves represent the action areas through which we focus our efforts.

Vision and Objectives

Throughout our history, we have contributed to the economic and social development of the regions where we have a presence, and we have founded and developed companies and institutions that, in a tangible and real way, fulfill one of FEMSA’s fundamental values: to create social value.

Our vision includes understanding the challenges of the industries we are a part of, as well as developing strategies that ensure the sustainability of FEMSA and its Business Units.

By establishing a sustainability policy and strategy, we carry out business practices that create the conditions to operate and grow in harmony with the social environment. We also identify the issues on which we can influence, and ensure the mitigation of the impact of the products and services we offer.

Today, sustainability continues to be a transversal element that is reflected in our business strategy:

Nuestras empresas contribuyen a elevar la calidad de vida de 300,000 familias que las integran, optimizan el uso de los recursos naturales que consumen y transforman de manera positiva las comunidades, con millones de beneficiarios de los programas e iniciativas establecidas.

Through our Corporate Governance’s leadership, we are paving the way for the future we want. As part of our business mission, we incorporate sustainability from the Board of Directors.

Board of Directors

FEMSA’s Board of Directors is responsible for determining the company’s corporate and sustainability strategies, and for defining and supervising the implementation of its corporate mission, vision and values. The actions carried out by the Board regarding sustainability, will be mainly focused on the creation of social value, including protection of the environment, sustainable development and the identification of risks of the company's projects.

The Board must also be on the lookout for any updates, and must observe the system in order to enforce compliance with FEMSA’s Code of Ethics, evaluate it, report when one of the Board members has any conflict of interest, and review the correct execution of the Sustainability Policy. Another of its responsibilities is to monitor the national government provisions and policies regarding sustainability, as well as the international guidelines assumed by the company.

The Board and the Support Committees meet at least four times a year to follow up on the strategic and sustainability issues of the business, and to oversee the achievement of the strategic goals that are set annually.
